Kueh Chap @Sg Maong, 3rd Mile

Many of us might know that kueh chap at 3rd mile is famous for its generous portion and taste. So, last Saturday, while going around Kuching looking for food, we stop by at 3rd Mile to fill our hungry tummy.

This store is located almost opposite Sunny Hill. Their business is so good! Majority people that stop by will order kueh chap. They too have a lot of workers to help out delivering and taking orders.

Kueh chap isn't complete without the 'sambal' chillie. As the first plate of chillie is too little, I've requested for another one. When my chillies came, I'm stunt. Gosh, so much!


And then, the king of kueh chap arrives. Wow, so much!!! Anyway, I grade it 9 out of 10. Another point missing because the sambal is not spicy enough. Hehehehe... I finished 2 plate of chillies and yet I don't feel hot or spicy.

Thanks for visiting my blog .. well, too bad, the sambal isn't that spicy enough .. you can try the one at 7th mile .. that one is spicy

Last Sunday is BF day of signing the "Book of Life" (I think that's what they call it). From the time table list, it is known as the "First Confession" day... Well, I translate directly the meaning since it's in BM. Hehehe... We arrived there at around 9am. Not many people there that time but there are people setting up stall to sell some food after the church service. BF told me that he had not had any breakfast yet and I nag him. Whahahaha! I had to sit separately from BF and dad since I'm not the godfather. Church service starts at 9.30pm. While waiting for the mass, I took pictures all around the church . Are they dreaming?? I took some picture when they signed the book. Well, I'm the only photographer that day. One thing different between St. Mark and my church is that during this kind of occasion is that in my church, there will be more than 1 photographers going all round taking photos or filming the whole occasion. Cozy Cafe, Jalan Song

Feeling hungry for something different on lunch time? Another place you can think of will be this restaurant - The Cozy Cafe. It is opposite One TJ with a black signboard. The environment is indeed cozy and warmth. Taste wise not bad but I can say that the service is a little weird. We order tea and they only permitted to give us 2 cup. Hhmmmm, I thought that we can just ask them to refill the pot wit hot water and share the tea amongst us. Guess this is how they earn more - limiting the number of sharing per tea pot. Oh well, got to just follow their rules. And this is what we ordered - sharing portion between a few of us. After all, ladies are small eaters. 'Ma Li Chai'/'Mani Chai', also known as Cangkuk Manis

While googling for news about 'malichai', it turns out that I hardly get anything that I am looking for, so this triggers me to write something about this local vegetables that I believe, can only be found in Sarawak. 'Mali chai' is easily planted and grow quite fast as well. In fact, this is the only vegetables that I planted and it didn't fail on me! With its stick, just plant it on the ground and leave the rain and sun to takes care of the rest. Hahaha... 'Mali chai' is a word in hokkien that mostly use in Kuching. 'Chai' means vegetables. Hakka people called it 'su choi'. Well, this vege doesn't seems to have an English name. If we are to translate from BM to English, it definitely sounds weird - Sweet Hook. I think anyone who hear 'sweet hook' will not be keen to try it out.. So, how do 'mali chai' looks like? I've snap the photos of this vegetables at my garden.
