Mars Have Snow!

Image
Previously, a friend of mine had send me a forwarded mail regarding Mars. Yeah, its the planet Mars, not the mars chocolate. In the yahoo news, it actually shows that Mars have snow too!! Back in the past, I've heard that there are scientist discover that Mars have oxygen that human needs to stay alive. There is talks as well that as Earth is getting older, human can migrate to Mars. I'm not so sure about how this could happen. Obviously the cost to fly all the human on Earth into Mars would be very cost damaging! Again, today, there are news about more research in Mars. Eventually, scientist discover that Mars have snow. Apart from the gravity thingy, Mars eventually have snows falls on the ground!! For those who don't know what is Mars, it is the fourth planet from the lovely Sun in the solar system. The planet is name after the Roman god of war. Due to its reddish appearance, it is also known as the red planet. For more info about Mars, can go to the wikipedia. The snow ...

Fixed Deposit Rate as of 13th Mar 2009

Image
Today, I try to find some information related to fixed deposits. Some company has shown increase in business, therefore, I assume that bank businesses should be picking up as well. (click to enlarge) The last FD interest that I know is extremely low. Standard Chartered is only 2.0% (3mth) while Ambank is only 2.1%. I tried to do some google search. It turns out that the interest rate is still the same. *Sigh*. Does anyone knows the most up to date rate for fixed deposits? www.BankingInfo.com.my

One Month NO Shopping Challenge

While I'm doing my budgeting and calculating my expenses every month vs my resolution for 2009, I realize that lately, I've been spending unnecessarily. Although the amount that I spend is RM3-RM10, but when I add all it up, the amount can reach RM100 on NOT IMPORTANT stuff. I realize that as long as I step my feet out of the house/office, I will always be spending something. In office, I've been tempted to buy tidbits from cafe although they sold it at super expensive price. When going out for lunch, I tends to have side order although whatever order that I've made is enough to fill my stomach. When I accompany BF for lunch, I realize that I will also be tempted to order something although I'm not hungry! When waiting for my dad to buy Toto, I'm tempted with the little shop outside the toto. They are selling those kueh and cakes. I'm not hungry but looking at those food, I just couldn't resist the temptation. There is one time where my dad went to Kenya...

Jalan Song - Jalan Tun Jugah New Flyover

Image
Have anyone heard of this news? Basically, Sarawakian (especially Kuching people) will have another flyover in less than a year time. It will be build at one of the most busy street in Kuching, that is Jalan Song - Jalan Tun Jugah. Jalan Song is always jam especially after office hour at 5.30pm - 6.30pm. With the plan of new flyover, I believe that the traffic jam at this road will gets worst until the flyover is done. It will be built in the direction of the airport to Kuching. Expected completion would be 6 months time. Personally I doubt it. Besides that, a dual-carriageaway between Kenyalang Interchange and Simpang Tiga will be widened to three and four lane. This whole project are estimated to be worth 75 millions (I wish I have 1% of this amount!!!) - More info at catcity website. I have concern during the progress of building the flyover. I guess, it may impact the traffic jam at BDC roundabout as well. If this happens, I might not be able to reach home early for 6 months. What...

Michael Jackson, King of Rock Dies at Age 50

Image
This morning, while driving to work, radio DJ had announced a very shocking news to the world. Michael Jackson had died at the age of 50! The King of Pop died after being taken to the hospitals on Thursday after suffering from cardiac arrest. He is pronounces dead at 2:26pm. When he arrives at the hospital, Michael Jackson had been in the coma and later was pronounced dead. He had been rehearsing for his round the world comeback tour in London in the coming month (July). Personally I am not the loyal fan of Micheal Jackson. His images in me is the 'moon walk' that he used to do during his concert performance. Apart from that, I remember receiving gift delivered from New York that says is from him (until now, I do not know if this is true or false). "Moonwalk" Let's pray for his as he had contribute his life in music firms and rocks the world with his voice. May he rest in peace. Micheal Jackson 25th Anniversary Thriller :

A(H1N1) Detected in Sarawak Few days ago, the first A(H1N1) had been detected in Sarawak. A 23 year old student from Melbourne had been confirmed to have A(H1N1) virus. The student reached Kuala Lumpur at 6.15am from Melbourne via MH 128 and his connecting flight back to Kuching, MH2504, arrived at 10.15am. He was seated at 30J onboard MH128 and at 11H on MH2504. Couple of days before, I just wrote that there is no influenza cases in Sarawak. It seems like this virus starts to spreads to all over Malaysia. Definitely this is not a good news for all sarawakian! Two more schools are temporary closed. One of them only close the morning session and not the afternoon session. I read an article that this virus can survive in normal temperature for up to 48 hours. I don't understand why is it that the afternoon session remains open. I can understand the worries for the parents of the afternoon session students. The school should take all steps including shutting down the whole school, not...

H1N1 First Local Infection, School Closed Down

It's a shock in my country when the first local infection of H1N1 is detected. What worst is that, it is detected on a 11 year old primary school kids! Personally, this news is a bit scary although there is no cases (yet) reported back at where I stay now. Result from the first local transmission , SJK (C) Jalan Davidson had been closed for a week. All teachers and students are being home quarantine. For kids, they may think that it is good to have holidays again but holidays at home is another story. I have posted about H1N1 in my health blog regarding the travelling precautions . Also posted about this disease that has wipe out millions of innocent life back in our the early 1918 (55 mil innocent life!). Influenza Pandemic is even worst than AIDS! What is happening? Why is it there is disease so critically deadly? I believe only God knows why and we can only pray for the best. The total H1N1 cases in Malaysia is increasing everyday. From what I have heard, we have 50 cases so fa...

Photography, Arts of Skills

Image
Recently during a wedding, a friend of mine attended with his camera as a part time volunteer photographer. He tooks quite a lot of photos from different angles, near or far as well as colored or black and white. Well, I found that photography is a very interesting hobbies but is a very expensive one too. Nowadays, there are a lot of either fulltime or partime photographers in the markets. Some, due to their popularity, had increased their payment rate. It is hard to find a good photographer with reasonable price now. So for those who is looking for partime photographers for any of your occasions, well, worldofdidi have one good candidate for your list of photographers. His payment rate, I can guarantee that it won't be that pricey. I have asked him to send me some photos to be publish in my blog too. A Compulsory Pass In English?

Image
I strong support this!! Recently our education minister has announce that there will be some consideration to make English a compulsory pass in SPM. Well, I think this is a very good suggestions. It is not about forgetting our mother language but this is more in advancing our progress globally. In today's world, everything needs English. University books are mainly in English. When you travel overseas, English is the bridge of communications. In electronic world, English too, play a very important roles. No matter what sector our job is, we need English to communicate and upgrading our lifestyle. I don't see that there is any harm not to make English a compulsory pass in SPM. Some says that this will increase total number of students that failed SPM. Well, for me, the question is not whether number of students failed SPM will increase or not but the question is do we want to compete with the big world out there? Are we ready to challenge and be competitive globally or locally? ...

International Day of Innocent Children Victim of Aggression

I guess not everyone knows that today is dedicated as an International Day for the children who is the victim of aggression. As our worlds becomes more advance in term of technology, loves and cares no longer be the main items in a family. There might be families that still values the real meaning of family, but is this the majority or the minority? In today's worlds, both parents is working. Well, maybe there are mothers that gave up career for their families but how many women that would give up career in this generation? Tension and stress at work and catching up in technology simply erases away the loves in a family. Some parents burst their frustration at work to their families. For broken family, children is always the victim either emotionally or physically. Abuse on children has become more and more crucial now. The most recent case reported in TheStar is really a heartbroken news. How can a mother abused her own children simply because of frustration? What kind of excuse a...

World Events for 2009

Image
As posted in my Health Blog on the recent "World Health Day", there are many other events going on in 2009 to create awareness amongst the 'homo-sapiens' in order to lead a better life in this complicated world. Other events coming up are: Earth Day, 22nd Apr 2009 World Malaria Day, 25th Apr 2009 World Press Freedom Day, 3rd May 2009 (I doubt this is a worldly celebrate) World Environment Day, 5th June 2009 International Day of Peace, 21st September 2009 I think the best of all the list here are the last event, International Day of Peace. Lately, I just hate to watch news or read the newspaper. Everywhere around the world, there are riots, people taking innocent life or bombing another country. Tragedy at Gaza, jobless man killing people out of frustration, demonstration on disatisfaction and many more. Our world is indeed and in need of an International Day of Peace. I think, this should be a monthly events to create more awareness in everyone's life.

22nd July 2009 Tsunami

Image
Have anyone of you received any junk mail regarding any prediction of tsunami? Well, I received something like this: “Hello there. I just wanted 2 let you know that please stay away from the beaches all around in the month of July. There is a prediction that there will be another tsunami hitting on July 22nd. It is also when there will be sun eclipse. Predicted that it is going 2 be really bad and countries like Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak), Singapore, Maldives, Australia, Mauritius, Si Lanka, India, Indonesia, Philippines are going 2 be badly hit. Please try and stay away from the beaches in July. Better 2 be safe than sorry. Please pass the word around. What if the prediction came true? For me, better be save than sorry. Whether or not the forwarded mail is junk or warning, it is better to play s...

A Message by George Carlin:

Another articles that I read which is simply reflects what our world is now. Very true and meaningful. Hope everyone take times to read it and think of what this guy says. George Carlin is a comedian of the 70's and 80's. The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a ...

Thief Prevention Tips

This morning, my neighbour's house is being ransacked by some small thief. I call him small thief because he came by himself and he is so stupid that he thinks coming in from the front door is ok. Well, I guess he picked the wrong lorong. In my neighbourhood area, everyone knows everybody's business. Yeah!! It's true ok. My dad and this neighbour are friend and they use to go travel together. Also, other neighbours is always keeping watch of each other's house if we go for holidays or not at home. My neighbour use to leave the house at around 5.30am to Camellite Church. I guess, the thief has survey aboutit for quite some times already. He knew that the neighbour won't be around that time. So, he broke in via the front gate (lol) and ransacked the whole house. When he opened the front gate, another neighbour saw him and quickly called the police. Guess what,... In due to recent cases of thief, the police station, which is 2 minutes from my house has been re-open onc...

EPF Contribution Decreased to 8% From 11%

Recently, the government had reduced our EPF contribution from 11% to 8% with the reason that this is to give everyone more money to spend. Is this really a good idea? For me, as an employee it doesn't benefit anything to me at all. Why? 1. By decreasing the EPF contribution, this would means that I'm increasing my income tax amount. So, end up, this doesn't do me any good at all but to pay for more taxes. 2. 3% deduction would means that my mental would play the song "I have extra money to spend". I can survive before the deduction and why I need the extra money to spend? 3. With the recent economy crisis, reducing the EPF would means increasing the country money but making the people to be less affordable due to higher income tax amount. 4. EPF money is for the old time. Then, does this mean when I get old, I don't need much money to spend? I will definitely choose to stick with 11% EPF contribution rather than the 8%. So, I had been googling on how I can ap...

Tips to Buy Car

Recently, a friend of mine asked me for my opinion in buying a car. Well, I think to buy a car is not like simply go to a car shop, and sign on anything they give you. It's not like buying a dress! Even if we are to buy dress, we will look and judge several aspect (especially price) before getting one. Well, my opinion, here are some aspects that one should think before getting themselves a car: 1. Cost range 2. Type of car (big, small, medium, local car, non local car) 3. The economy & environment 4. The needs of the car 5. Several bank interest rate 1. Cost range This is very important. The first and easiest way to filter is to look on our own capability to afford what cost of car. Is it 30K, 40K or 50K? Or more than 50K? Most people go for car they like and ignore this. The reason I say this is very important because it really depends on our own affordability before commiting into a loan which may last for 3 years to 9 years. Imagine paying 700-800 per month when the salary ...

Melamine? Munchy's Biscuits Do Malaysia Proud?

Image
There is an article in TheStar a while ago that says Munchy's Biscuits do us, the Malaysian proud. Also government had encourage consumer to go for local foods instead of imported items. How true is this? Well, based on the article in thestar, it sounds like Munchys is really a grand choice for us. Personally point of view, I like Munchys. I really like the biscuits because of its taste and packaging! Haha.... TheStar Article : http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/9/20/business/2076821&sec=busines Recently, I read another articles that mentions melamine is found in Munchy's biscuits. I was like.. WHAT????? I thought that it is assured that Malaysia made product is save from melamine?? Why is it that it is shown now our very own make Malaysia proud biscuit is being said to contains melamine in HK? HK article: http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/9/20/business/2076821&sec=busines So my question now, what biscuits is 100% free of mel...

Avoid ATM Theft - Tips for All

Image
I found one of my recent forwarded mail is very useful for all. It is about how an ATM theft try to steal from a person. Here is briefly what is the agenda: First, this culprit will pretend to use the ATM However, he is actually placing a trap to get the next user's ATM card. They would normally come in a team, so that the second person can alert if there is anything amiss. After placing the trap, he got out from the ATM and wait for potential victim. When the victim insert his/her card, the card gets confiscated. At this point, the theft will come in for his aid, pretending to be nice. All this is to get the glimpse of his pin number. After some suggestion and lies, the theft will then convince the poor victim that his card is faulty. The victim had no choice but to leave the machine without the card. Here's what the theft will do. After making sure the area is cleared, he confiscated the card, use them and enter the pin number, and withdraw money like that's his card!!!! ...
